Men and women in movies are created equal – or are they?

How differently are men and women portrayed in movies? With this prototype you can paste in a few lines of a conversation and see if our model thinks it’s between two men or two women. If it gets it wrong or can’t make a prediction, congratulations - you’re breaking stereotypes!
Our findings show that 35 years after the Bechdel test was devised, fictional conversations between men and women are still so different that an AI model can pick up on it with an 74% accuracy.
The AI classification model used in this prototype is based on Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) embeddings and a 2 neurons dense layer with a sigmoid activation as classifications head.
